04/02/2014 Today’s Meditation: Genesis 3:1-5 From Genesis Three 1: Don’t Be Caught Napping Now the serpent was more cunning than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, Has God indeed said, You shall not eat of every tree of the garden? Gen 3:1. It is not possible to lead a victorious Christian life without a correct understanding of the personality of Satan. Have you watched a Christian drama or video lately where usually Satan and demons are presented as ugly creatures dressed in black with horns on their heads? From my days in the Sunday school in my village church till now, we were made to believe that Satan is that ugly thing all in black with tail and horn! How I wish this is true. Unfortunately the devil is not that and will never present himself as that. Who will fall into his hand if he comes straight and introduce himself as “Mr. Devil” all dressed in black. He never presented himself like that to Eve; he will never present himself like that to you. The way of Satan is the way of cunningness. He is crafty, canny, sly and extremely devious. He is the worst enemy who will present himself as the best of friend and the farthest person who will present himself as the closest neighbour. The nature of the devil is what makes many to be his victim. ” And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light” 2Cor 11:14. The book of Genesis chapter three started with the word “now”. That is very significant. Who the devil was when he sneaked into Eden to chat with Eve is what he still is “now”! The devil, that old serpent is still the same even today and will use the same strategy to all unsuspecting victim of his antics. Satan is not your friend, no; but he will always come as friend giving you a good alternative to what God says. Beware of nice presentations in logical prowess that will put a question in your mind on the authenticity of the word of God. “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” 2Cor 11:3. “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ” Col 2:8. Not every reasonable and “sound” word is from God. Look at the strategy of Satan with Eve; he came to discuss a point of interest. The devil will approach you on very relevant issue to your life. When he came to Jesus, (read the story in Matthew 4) he came on the very interesting topics. 1. Jesus had just finished a forty day fasting, so he came to discuss food to someone who naturally was famished. 2. He came to discuss power with someone who is just entering ministry. 3. He came to discuss worldwide possession to someone with a worldwide mission. He will always approach you on areas of your pressing needs and current interest. Beloved, do not allow the sneaky Satan to outrun you and delve a deadly blow on your eternity. Beware of those easy suggestions that will attempt to oversimplify the way. Look out for suggestions that will attempt to broaden the narrow way to make things easier. That “it does not matter” may sound reasonable and harmless but look carefully; it may be a subtle way out of the way. It is good to have friends but with a friend like Satan, an enemy is no longer necessary. Satan will present himself as a true friend with good intentions and genuine care. Those who seem to have more love for you than God and care for you more than the Holy Spirit will only destroy you and waste your eternity. Be careful about those you open your life to. Beware of friend and too cheap cares. Delilah was a friend when she destroyed the destiny of Samson. Up till now, the enemy of the souls of men is cunningly sneaking into people’s lives and playing on their intelligence. Do not be caught snapping. May the grace of God be strong in your life today and always in Jesus name. The devil will be a permanent loser in your life in Jesus name. Your destiny and eternity will be totally preserved by God in Jesus name. Have a blessed day; I love you!
