07752 610438 89 year old grandmother was always living with me. Now she is living in a nursing home. She has been there since August. I kept praying that the conditions in the home would get better. Whenever I do go into the home, it breaks my heart to leave her there in the living room with other people soaked in urine. My poor grandmother who was so clean and spotless, now her hair and her skin also stinks from urine. It is my wish to bring her home and provide her with a live in carer. She does sleep throughout the night. In April, she had a fall at home and injured her head, leading to a blood clot in the brain. Along with the common dimensia setting in at her age. Due to the brain injury she is doing her own thing and so she needs constant supervision. I live in a 3 level newly built town house which has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If she does come home, a stair lift will be installed. While she was in hospital after her fall, she had another 2 falls...even though her bed was by the nurses station. Those later falls led to a hip fracture following hip surgery. She does not need a transferer to transfer her from bed to chair or from wheelchair to chair as she can stand for a second and transfer with the help of a carer. She needs to be medicated, fed her meals, showered in the mornings and a small shower at night. Laundry. Sometimes I can sit with her while you perform these duties. She needs to be toileted-all the personal care. The poor woman use to ask to use the toilet, however the carers at the nursing home took it for granted that she is using a pad so its fine for her to do it in her pad. So now with one to one care we can hopefully bring back this routine. However if an accident does happen u need to be alert and have a can do attitude, hard working and active. Have the common sense to know when her sheets need changing. I will require 2 ladies. one lady for the weekdays and one lady for the weekends. Or one lady to live with us permanently and not got paid for the weekend so that she can get 2 days off and another lady to come and work for the day. I can pay £70 per day. You will not get paid on your days off. i do ask for two ladies because when one is off sick or on holiday or on days off I have another to cover. I will require you to mop and clean her bathroom which you will share with her. Disinfecting it and emptying her bathroom dustbin. Keep on top of her medication and pads stock and know who to call to make orders. I need someone cheerful and not lazy..You will get plenty of time off during the day. My grandmothers room, your room, a bathroom and the living room are all on the same floor. We can use stair gates to prevent her from coming to the stairs and falling. I would like her to move out of the nursing home on 15 February. But I need to get all her medication in place and stock up and get regular deliveries for her pads. I also need to know if this kind of a service I require can be available. You must be flexible and strong and able to care for her. I am a mum of 2 very active boys and there will be times when I wont be around and I need to have complete trust that my grandmother will be in good hands. You must be flexible. I might somedays ask you to collect my boys from school and I supervise my grandmother. The school is a 2 minute walk from my house. The house is very clean and modern. You need to have received a nursing or personal specialised training. And pay your own taxes and have your own insurance in place.
