08/07/2013 Today’s Meditation: 2Corinthians 13:1-8 Please, Be Sure! Examine yourselves as to whether you are in the faith. Test yourselves. Do you not know yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you? --unless indeed you are disqualified 2Cor 13:5. looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled Heb 12:15. Beloved, I have this heavy burden in me since yesterday to passionately appeal to you on the matter of your eternity. As a shepherd under the Chief Shepherd, I have a duty to God over those of you who by divine arrangement have been brought under my labour. I have a serious concern for your eternal destination; I cannot imagine you spending your eternity in Hell. What for? What will you be doing there? In the light of this, let us obey the letter and spirit of these scriptures: “examine yourself”. Self-examination is the mother of all examinations. A student who does not want to fail his teacher’s examination or the external examinations will do self-examinations many times before the real examinations. If he has proved himself and has done well in self-examinations, there is the likelihood that he will do well in the real test. A student who fails to do this will approach his examinations mainly on assumptions; many of them come back with “they gave me F”! Talking about assumption, will a man be so fatuous to the point of making the issue of his eternity a matter of assumption? In the final examination where there is no re-sit or repeat, will a man be so heedless to the point of failing before he discovers his lack of adequate preparations? Will you wait until you hear “depart from me” before you discover that you are no longer in Christ or that you never were? In Hebrew 12:5, the word of God talks about “looking carefully”. Note that it uses the continuous tense as if to say “do it continually”. Keep looking; look today, tomorrow and every day. Look every hour; look every moment. Don’t look casually but carefully. Be diligent in your thorough and continuous examination of yourself so that you will not “fall short of the grace of God”. There is nothing that makes a man fall short more than sin. “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Rom 3:23. Check out all symptoms of defilement in your life. Check for carnal habits and passion for worldly things in the depth of your heart. Look out for gradual return to things you have promised the Lord you will never do again. Do a thorough check; I am sure you are not a reprobate. You know yourself; you cannot hide yourself from yourself. Be true to yourself. Beloved, anything can happen any time. The trumpet can sound any time; death may even come! If it happens now, will you not be in eternal trouble? Are you ready, fully prepared to face God anytime? Please, do not assume; be very sure! Look, eternity is too serious a matter to be made a subject of gambling and assumption. Be very, very sure! I command every attachment of hell on you to catch fire right now; the power of God will set you free right now from every satanic entanglement in Jesus name. The mercy of God will secure for you a sure place with God in heaven in Jesus name. Go out this week and prosper in all you do by the leading of the Lord in Jesus name. It is well with you. Thank God you are reading this message. If it blessed you, dont be selfish; share it with your friends or add them to this group. It is a service to God!
