1.Has anyone actually asked people if they want these new bananas? 2.The article would be better served by not stating one species is superior to another. I thought we quit that mentality. 3.If your organization increases vitamin A can you say definitively that you do not make a trade-off with another vitamin, beneficial chemical, etc? 4.There was a critical article the other day stating that these philanthropic gestures ignore economic issues. For example, lives should be saved, but obviously other people in the target countries are not starving. Therefore this appears to be a economic disparity issue rather than a regional issue. (e,g, the importation of rice and other goods from richer nations which compete directly with local produce) 5.The reasons given for the blight spread are simplistic. Is the blight spreading because of the mono culture of large-scale farms and agribusiness or because the banana is an inherently susceptible species to disease. 6.When writing an article about philanthropy mention the other people. This article is comprised of only the donors and those who seek to benefit financially (through research funding) through this program. If the people being helped are not mentioned, you paint a picture of money dictating the future of other peoples culture.
