1 John 4: 18 “There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.” I often times struggle within myself to make peace with my imperfection. I wonder how a perfect God can continually use an imperfect vessel. The answer is not a poetic description of my self, but it is the beauty of Jesus, which answers my question. The love of God is so strong for us that He sent His son to die for our sins. This is a simple statement about God, but do we see past the evident familiar words to find our value? God gave His most prized possession in His kingdom for you and me. He did not spare His own son for our sinful nature. He wanted to cleanse us forever, so He completed our struggle to apprehend perfection with one single act. Jesus died on the cross for you and He rose again for you. These two acts wipe away every imperfection we have because perfect love cast out all fear. Fear is an emotion that describes our disposition in this life before Christ. Before Christ, we could not win the battle within ourselves, but after Jesus, the battle has been won. The battle to find acceptance in this life is over and my ability to love has been perfected. The man I see in the mirror is not the man the Lord reveals to others in this life. I am more important to people than I realize and I am more important to God than I could ever imagine. You are more important than you realize and God loves you so much, He perfected you through His Son. We often times look to find the bad in our selves every Sunday, but I challenge you to find the good that lies beneath the surface of self-doubt. The impact you are making in the world around you is great and God sees great things in you. Do not give up on yourself because why would the creator of all things send His son for something He is going to discard? God is not mad at you and He is not looking to judge you today. God is looking to restore your mind and your soul. We think we deserve death for our sins but Jesus took our place on the cross to divert every punishment to Him. We are free to live this life free from condemnation. The struggle I find within myself is what I find many people struggling with in their lives. My imperfection is beautiful in the eyes of God and the blood of Jesus has made me a perfect vessel. I challenge you to find His perfect love today because He loves you with a perfect love!
