12-week-old Gabe was brought to our no-kill shelter last August by a Good Samaritan who found this brave young kitten wandering as a stray in Cashiers. We took this young lad in, provided for him what was most likely his first nutritious meal, age-appropriate vaccinations and scheduled his appointment to be neutered. And with no time limit to worry about at our shelter, Gabe enjoyed the next 150 days in our community play rooms getting to know with and interacting with his feline roommates, plus receiving plenty of love, affection and socialization from our staff and volunteers. And on Day 151, the happy ending to Gabe’s story was written – his new mom and dad came to the Cashiers-Highlands Humane Society and gave Gabe a loving, forever home in Cullowhee. And that’s why we do what we do. We will never give up on the animals who look to us for rescue, compassionate care and adoption. Just ask Gabe.
