12th District Events!! The first event is the GOP Annual 12th Congressional District Fish Fry to be held on Thursday, September 18, 2014. This will be the 17th Annual Fish Fry held at the Pathway Center, 3 miles south of Sylvania off US Hwy 301 (traveling toward Statesboro). (GPS is 3010 Statesboro Highway). Outdoor music will begin at 5:00 p.m. for those who arrive early. Music will continue until 6:30 p.m., followed by the meal and an outstanding program. A large number of elected officials have indicated they will attend, including those seeking reelection as well as other candidates. Usually there are 20 Georgia Counties represented each year. Please RSVP (see below) by the 8th of September for the Annual Fish Fry. Please let me know if you are coming as soon as possible so we will know how to plan. A large number of people have already inquired who is coming since this is an election year. You dont want to miss it! The second event will be a free BBQ given to honor all 5 Branches of the Military, both active members as well as Veterans. Those who lost their lives will also be honored during the program. The spouses of the military membes are also invited to attend. An outstanding program is being planned to include several great speakers. The BBQ will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2014 and will also be at the Pathway Center (see address above). Outdoor music will begin at 4:00 pm. The meal will be served at 5:00 p.m., followed by an outstanding program. Top state and national officials will be present. The meal is free to all military and their spouses. All others in attendance will be consideed sponsors and will be asked to make a small contribution to help defray expenses. If there is an overflow crowd at the BBQ, additional parking will be available at the First Baptist Church parking lot, downtown Sylvania, and also at the Screven County Elementary School, located on US Hwy 301 Bypass. There will be shuttle buses located at these locations from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. After the event, buses will return guests back to the respective parking lots.
