#14321 “Have a nice day” is a generic goodbye to customers, - TopicsExpress

#14321 “Have a nice day” is a generic goodbye to customers, but at my retail job, depending on whether I was able to have a mutual conversation with a customer, I like to switch things up and say something related to what they have told me, like “I hope you enjoy your vacation” or “good luck on your job interview”. Confession: Sometimes, I intentionally say something to a distracted customer that would require a response other than a “you too”, hoping to catch them off guard and intentionally creating an awkward situation for them. Seeing them realize what they have said and then rush out of the store makes my day go by that much more quickly and enjoyably. I would say sorry, but Im really not. Just know that if this has happened to you, no one is judging. And in my case, it was on purpose anyway. It’s really not your fault. Have a nice day ;)
