18712 Title: MEDICAL ASSISTANT - Womens Ambulatory Health Services Location: Hartford Hospital Employment Type: Regular Work Time: Full-Time Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift Category: Day Shift Schedule: 8:30am-5:00pm FLSA: Non-Exempt Description Womens Ambulatory Health Services Medical Assistant, 40 Hours per week Monday - Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm No Weekends, No Holidays REQUIREMENTS: •High School graduate or equivalent. •Diploma from an accredited medical assistant program required, Certification Preferred. •Bilingual Spanish required; must pass Spanish Language Proficiency Test prior to here. •Minimum of one to two years of Ambulatory OB/GYN experience preferred. •Strong organizational skills required. •Excellent Interpersonal Communication and Customer Service skills. •Excellent computer skills; Electronic Medical Record, Electronic Scheduling System (GE IDX knowledge preferred). •Ability to multi-tasks and deal with a high patient volume. •Knowledge of ICD-9, CPT preferred. •Phlebotomy certified (or validated within 6 months of hire). •CPR certified (or validation within 3 months of hire). •Physical effort as specified by Position Physical Requirements and Occupational Exposure forms. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and/or Physician, the Medical Assistant performs delegated functions as a member of the patient care team for new family planning clinic to provide a variety of procedures for women seeking family planning. Must be interested and comfortable working with adolescents. Responsibilities include (patient flow, waive testing, quality control, customer service driven and administrative services (greet patients, process medical record, discharge patients scheduling appointments, coordinate patient services, place reminder calls and supply inventory. These activities contribute to meeting the health care, safety and comfort needs of patients, and are performed in accordance with all existing regulatory, state and company standards, policies and procedures. Duties of the Medical Assistant in the family planning clinic will work closely with provider and residents within WAHS clinic. Ensures cost-effective utilization of resources within own control. Reports to assigned Supervisor or Nurse Manager.
