1934--KITE Contest on COURTHOUSE Hill--(Mandan News) A score of kites dipped and swung with stately grace in a brisk breeze from atop of courthouse hill this week as the Connolly Chevrolet Company’s annual kite contest got underway after two delays due to poor weather. More than 20 boys entered the contest, with J.C. Gould, superintendent of the city schools, judging the event. Prizes went to Don Smith for the largest kite and to Robert Weibers for the smallest one. Douglas Tenneson captured honors for the highest flier, while William Stein flew the largest box kite.
