(2 DAYS, 400 ROUNDS LIVE AMMO plus Airsoft equipment) Training/preparing for the Defensive application of the handgun occurs at three levels. The first is the fundamentals or essentials. Once the essential skills are learned, they must then be turned into combative skills…these skills that allow you to be ready and willing to fight with a handgun…taking the tool from a sporting/pinking instrument and making it a fighting tool. The final level is the interactive skills…taking the skills learned at the other two levels and using them against real, animated, moving opponents to help anchor the skills and to have the confidence they will actually work in the home, on the street or wherever a threat may attack. This course will bring together square range skills with interactive drills which will lead to enhancement of one’s skills sets. NOTE: in addition to typical range gear, each student will need to supply an Airsoft gun that mimics their carry gun and fits in their holster, along with a supply of canned gas/CO2 cartridges to power the gun and an ample supply of 6mm pellets. These Airsoft guns should be capable of semi-automatic fire and have at least two magazines. A protective face shield, goggles or similar (not eye glasses) eye protection that offers more protection than regular glasses from the Airsoft pellets. Gear needed for Live Fire: A quality full size handgun (semi-automatic or revolver, 9mm or larger, a second gun is advisable in the event the first one goes down), a quality strong side holster for handgun, proper sturdy belt that will support the weight of the gun, two additional magazines or speed loaders and belt pouch for same, eye and ear protection, billed cap(for flying brass) and clothing appropriate for range conditions. Suggested round count is based on a Glock 17 with high capacity magazines, guns with lesser capacity might shoot less ammo during the course. Oct 26 and 27 at Kodiak Firing Range. $200 plus ammo
