I already own an iPad Air, but I wanted to try the smaller iPad Mini with Retina display. I purchased the 64 GB WiFi version for traveling on business, when I do not want to carry the larger one. I have the Personal Hotspot feature on my phone, so I did not need the cellular version of the Mini.After using it for a week, the screen is big enough and the text is clear enough for every day use like taking notes at work, surfing web sites, checking email and watching the occasional video. The words on the Minis retina display are a little small in some situations, but not so small that I cannot read them. I also use multiple apps for viewing security cameras, controlling my alarm, thermostats and electrical outlets at my house. The iPad mini is the perfect size for carrying and I am able to use all of my paid apps on the new device at no additional charge.I will keep the iPad Air for my living room to control my home theater (DirecTV, HBOGo, MAXGo and Apple TV) and possibly for reading in bed at night. However, I find I am using he iPad mini for just about every thing else. I have not gone on a business trip yet, but I know it will work just fine on the airplane while reading and watching movies.After reading some of the negative reviews for the seller, I was concerned about shipping an iPad in a flat rate envelope. I emailed the seller and he assured me it would arrive in good shape. My iPad mini arrived quickly and it was double bagged in air-filled plastic with Styrofoam peanuts between the two bags. The outside envelope was roughed up and the Apple box had a tiny dent in one corner, but the item was in perfect condition. In the end, I saved a little bit on the price, plus I did not have to pay the sales tax which would have been close to $50 for my state.And I was right! I know several people with iPads, and, to me, they are unnecessarily large things to tote around. As soon as the Mini was available with the Retina Display, I jumped on it like a duck on a junebug. And boy, am I glad I did!While it cant take the place of an iPhone, it definitely takes the place of a full-sized iPad.resolution is great, compact.
