25 April 1990: Brian McKimm, 22-year-old Protestant civilian, married with 3 children was from Hazelbrook Drive, Ligoniel. Mr McKimm was a Linfield supporter and a Protestant married to a Catholic. He was late getting home because the game went into overtime and as he walked home, he was shot. A car was seen roaming Ligoniel streets for some time before the shooting took place. Mrs McKimms sisters boyfriend saw her husbands body lying in the street. Mrs McKimm was told of her husbands death by her sister. She said: I was sitting wondering what was keeping him because he didnt go out much and always came home early. There are 3 kids here who are orphaned now. I hope they (the killers) are proud of themselves and can sleep in their beds at night. I just hate them. Although no organisation claimed responsibility for Mr McKimms murder, a detective said he had no doubt the killing was committed by the UVF who had mistaken Mr McKimm for a Catholic. LEST WE FORGET!
