3 Step Formula That Conquers Procrastination step one in ending - TopicsExpress

3 Step Formula That Conquers Procrastination step one in ending procrastination is to allow yourself to feel the way you feel about the issue. The question of whether you’re supposedly right or not doesn’t come into it. Whatever choices you make in life will have consequences. Not making a choice is still a decision not to decide! The consequence of that will be that you will stand still and life – and others – will pass you by. If you’re comfortable with that, then procrastinate away, but know that you chose it! Since you’re reading this blog post, it’s a fair bet that that doesn’t sit well with you. So what’s the alternative? The answer is to do something. Here’s a rule of thumb that has served me very well for many years: Remember the odds are stacked in your favor! It’s a simple truth, yet almost nobody realizes it. Most things work out well most of the time. If they didn’t, you simply wouldn’t have survived. Even the things that so-called “go wrong” turned out to be lessons and growing experiences in the long run, didn’t they? How many things have happened to you that you now call “blessings in disguise?” You cannot stay safe or control the future by doing nothing. When you do take action you’ll discover that no matter what happens, you’ll find a way to handle it. You’ve handled everything life’s thrown at you until now – from crazy motorists on the highway to sick loved ones to comforting a frightened pet in a thunderstorm. You handled it all, and so much more. Exams, interviews, moving house … I don’t know your life story (unless you’re a coaching client, of course) – so you can fill in the blanks yourself. So here’s the “How to conquer procrastination formula” in a nutshell: Notice whatever you feel about a situation, and give yourself permission to feel those feelings. They’re an expression of your uniqueness. Do something. Taking no action is still a decision, so you can’t not decide. You can only choose preferred consequences. Remember, and adopt as a belief, that the odds are stacked in your favor. Einstein reminded us that the most important decision you’ll ever make is deciding whether you live in a friendly or a hostile universe. Choose “friendly” – it makes every other decision a breeze. What are your thoughts ?
