30 ZIMBABWEAN BORDER JUMPERS KIDNAPPED TWELVE suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping of 30 border jumpers after they promised to facilitate their illegal migration to South Africa through the Beitbridge Border Post. Sunboy Ngwenya (39), Thabani Ngwenya (46), Alfos Mpofu (40), Nhlaloyabo Dlamini (24), Alfred Tshuma (20), Loveless Ncube (34), Jefrey Moyo (36), Thifulufheni Ndou (40), Mbusiwelizwe Sibanda (36), Benard Makwelo (48), Lungisani Moyo (34) and Lemson Moyo (50) all appeared in court charged with kidnapping. Matabeleland South regional magistrate Joseph Maveza remanded the group in custody to April 7 for trial. The suspects are denying the charges. Prosecutor Johannes Tlou told the court that on February 1, the gang along with three others still at large, came across the complainants who intended to travel to South Africa. The State said the accused, who were travelling in three vehicles - a Toyota Quantum, Toyota Hilux and Nissan Hardbody with South African registration - promised to assist the illegal immigrants to cross into South Africa through Beitbridge Border Post before they reneged under unclear circumstances.
