365 Day Energy Gratitude Project. Day 64: Plastic. My food is protected and kept fresh by plastic containers and film. The containers are light and sterile. My car is more fuel efficient because of plastic substituting metal. Phones, computers, medical equipment. Bottles of energy intensive glass are substituted with it. Medicine is plastic intensive, as any visit to a hospital can attest, its sterile, low weight, low cost, is flexibility and adaptable. Modern plumbing and piping, agricultural and urban water supply and construction, plastic does some of civilisations heavy lifting as well as providing a bag for shopping and the material of nearly every toy for kids.
