4 KILLED IN NIGER HERDERS/FARMERS CLASH Four persons have been reported dead in a clash between herdsmen and farmers of Dakogi Village in Kudu district of Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State. The clash started Sunday, forcing the Fulani herdsmen to take refuge at the Divisional Police station in Mokwa as their makeshift settlements were allegedly set ablaze. Daily Trust gathered that trouble started when cows belonging to the Fulani herders destroyed crops belonging to a farmer in the community. When the farmer confronted the herdsmen numbering six, they attacked him with knife causing him bodily injury. It was gathered that when the news of the attack reached the villagers, they mobilised and launched an attack on the Fulani settlement leading to the death of four persons. Niger state police spokesman ASP Richard Oguche confirmed the incident, saying no arrest had been made and that the number of casualties could not be ascertained yet.
