5 Awesome Websites To Boost Summer Learning When I was a kid, we played a lot of board games – limited to whatever we had that still retained all of the original pieces, or whatever some friends had. Todays kids have a world of awesome stuff at their fingertips with the internet, so why not tap that to keep them busy, entertained, and learning at the same time? Here are a few suggestions for awesome websites that incorporate learning! Many of them are free, too! BrainPop BrainPop offers a variety of fun brain teaser type games. Some are free, lots are paid, but they offer a lot of learning opportunity (searchable by topic). They also offer games in Spanish, for ESL learning, and UK and French sites as well. There is also a specific section geared towards younger students. Prongo Prongo offers both free and paid games for kids 3-12 (ish, broken down by age group appropriateness). While the site design could use a little cleanup, the games are good and get thumbs up from the kids we tested them with. National Geographic For Kids National Geographic For Kids offers kid-friendly information on travel/geography, plants and animals. I adore National Geographic, and I love that they offer some of their awesome material designed for kid consumption. Learning Games For Kids Learning Games For Kids offers both free and paid educational games for kids, broken down both by age level and subject. From animal games to learning to type, this one really has a bit of everything. PBS Kids PBS Kids offers a wide array of educational games for kids, most of which (if not all of which) are associated with preexisting PBS characters that kids are likely already familiar with. They can be broken down by topic or by character, and they’re all free!
