6 Ways To Prevent Dry Hair This Season Dont let the cold weather deter you from your best hair! This time of year can be the worst for our hairs health--but not if were prepared. Here are 6 ways you can prevent dry hair this season : 1. Go heat-free for a month... -Take the plunge and give your hair a break from the heat. Make a goal to try styles that avoid using heat. If you cant commit to a full month (I understand), try cutting down on your heat time or only using heat once or twice weekly along with heat-protective styling products. 2. Broaden your idea of protective styling... Are you feeling like twists are your only option of a protective style? Expand on your styles to give them a little edge. Add some flexi-rods to your individual or flat twists, braids or locks. Add bangs to your up-do, turn your locks into funky spiral curls by twisting them into bantu knots overnight, or try Curlformers. Theres always a new style waiting to be created! The more you use protective styling as your go-to, the less time youll spend with heat on your hair. 3. Detangle correctly...with oil and your fingers Yes, you might be strapped for time, but theres no need to take out your aggression on your hair. Instead of using a brush or comb to detangle, try using your fingers. Use your fingers to divide your hair into 4 sections. (Its a lot easier if you detangle smaller sections at a time.) Scoop up a little oil (vitamin E or coconut) in your hands and starting from the ends, gently unravel any tangled strands. Move your way upward, to the root, until hair is completely detangled. 4. Switch up your shampoo and conditioner... Its always good to rotate between a few different products. Your shampoo that was working a few months ago might not have the same affect now as it did then. In summer, I love a good tea tree shampoo, but this time of year I opt for shampoos and conditioners with moisturizing agents, essential oils and humectants. Humectants are great because they attract moisture to your hair. 5. Avoid towel-drying hair.. Try using an old t-shirt instead! It really is that simple. Towel-drying your hair can create a lot of frizz and dry out your hair. Take an old tee, and toss your hair inside the wide opening. Now, instead of pulling your head all the way through (like you normally would with a shirt), gently twist the shirt around your hair and tuck away the excess fabric underneath. I like to leave it on for a while as I finish up the rest of my morning routine. 6. Use serums... Whether your hair is showing signs of damage, youve gone overboard on the coloring or heat, or maybe you want to take some precautionary measures, a serum might be a good option to invest in. Most serums help seal the hair from further damage, but in addition to that they also work from the inside out to repair broken strands and heal your damaged hair. The Mizani Supreme Oil not only works to repair, but is also very preventative and has moisturizing agents to keep your hair super soft and hydrated. How you choose to take care of your hair now will definitely reflect in the months to come. If youre in need of a trim, make the appointment now. Invest in good, professional products and try one of these remedies. Your hair will be so grateful! For the love of (healthy) hair, Myrna Beauty Station
