700: Dear Forensics , Im going to tell you a little story. Contrary to popular belief, North Hollywood was not a power house team. Its only been considered that for a year and a half. Before our team had maximum 5 kids competing at any tournament. No compliments, no honors, no titles or sweepstakes. In fact we had so little funding that we could barely go to state quals. But instead of whining or complaining, I along with my teammates made a difference. We advertised the team, had fundraisers, got a new coach, and tried to be inclusive of all other speech and debate teams when we went to tournaments instead of sticking in our little bubbles. Noho has never been a powerhouse really, but its because of hard work and kindness that it became so. So when people complain and whine about how small schools arent represented thats your fault. Cause I know what its like to have a team that cant even go to tournaments like nat quals. Or a team that has no recognition in the league. But I am proud to say now North Hollywood is great. Why? because of people that work hard to make names for themselves, people who are kind, friendly, and empathetic debaters and speakers from other schools, and people who strive to achieve excellence. Look at people like Marlon poroj, shawn haq, emily horak, griffin berlin, michael eberle, miguel samano, haynie/bracken from valencia, and william oh from golden valley who all come from relatively much smaller schools but still are kind, wonderful people that are appreciated in the league because they work hard, care, and make an effort to meet others and be social. So people who are complaining about this page, instead of whining go meet other debaters. Personally, I dont care what school your from as long as youre a nice person. Go work hard, be passionate, and take action. Because if you just stick to your good natured self and put in the time and effort, any school/person can be a superstar in our league.
