81 cadets commissioned in army Some 90 cadets, including four female, of Bangladesh Military Academy (BMA) formally passed out through a colourful ceremony at BMA Parade Ground in the port city on Thursday. Of them, 81 cadets, including four female, have been commissioned in Bangladesh Army, seven cadets in the Palestine Army and two cadets in Nepal Army. Among the commissioned officers in Bangladesh Army, 64 male cadet and four female cadets were from the 68th BMA Long Course while 13 male cadets were from the 39th BMA Special Course. The Chief of Army Staff General Iqbal Karim Bhuiyan, psc, reviewed the parade and took salute at the impressive march past as chief guest at the President Parade held at BMA Parade Ground to mark the commissioning ceremony of the cadets. He also distributed the medals and awards among the cadets for their outstanding performance in the academy. Battalion Senior Under Officer Mohammad Atiquzzaman was adjusted the best all round cadet in the 68th BMA long course and was awarded coveted ‘Sword of Honour’. Besides, Company Senior Under Officer Ganesh Bahadur Adhikari received the ‘Chief of Army Staff (CAS) Gold Medel’ for his outstanding performance in the military subjects. Birsrestha Hamid Company received the BMA colour for the summer term on the basis of different inter-company competitions. The cadets formally took oath and were adorned with the rank badges by their respective parents and guardians. The hour long passing out parade and oath taking ceremony were held with the spirit stimulating sounds of drums and instruments and singing of patriotic songs enthralled the high civil and military officials attended there.
