9/11 Prayer Jesus, all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to you. Therefore we come to you for help as we consider our nation in its time of need. Jesus, we pray for the thousands of families who have lost loved ones, not only on 9/11 but in the wars since that day. Heal their broken hearts as only you can. We pray for the thousands of men and women in our armed forces who have suffered life-threatening and life-changing injuries. Give them healing. Give them patience. Give them hope for the future. We pray for our leaders, that you would give them wisdom as they seek to carry out their responsibility to protect our nation and to punish evildoers. We pray for our troops who continue to go into harm’s way to secure a lasting peace. Protect them and give them victory. Most of all, Lord Jesus, we pray that you would somehow cause all that is happening to provide Christians, your people, with opportunities to show in actions and to announce in words your love for sinners so that more people might be rescued from this world stuck in the sad consequences of sin into the eternal joys of heaven.
