9 p.m. update: Travis County jurors have been out nearly six hours in the capital murder trial of Shriya Patel, charged in the April 2012 killing of her husband, Bimal Patel. They have had several questions for Judge David Crain and ordered dinner. The state judge has asked that they deliberate Friday night until they reach a verdict. Bimal Patel’s close friends, some of whom have been in the courtroom every day for the proceedings, have released the following statement: “Our gratitude goes out to everyone in the D.A. Office as well as all the investigators and medical professionals. Bimal Patel was an awesome friend and loving person. We miss his infectious enthusiasm.
