A 19 month old was brought into my clinic due to concern from his parents over persisting symptoms stemming from a traumatic birth, and the lack of answers and action from their other doctors. For the first 19 months of this childs life, he was unable to sleep longer than 2 hours. Often when he awoke he did so screaming and frightened from what the pediatricians diagnosed as night terrors. This would happen almost nightly. He also tended towards constipation. Two days prior to my clinic visit he underwent a comprehensive evaluation to measure motor, sensory, and speech milestones. All was found to be normal with the exception of his speech which they labeled him as being delayed for his age. A chiropractic evaluation of his spine and nervous system revealed severe subluxations of his neck, midback, and tailbone. These areas of the spine are responsible for many vital bodily functions including sleep, digestion and hormone balance to name just a few. He received gentle adjustments to remove the subluxations from his spine in efforts to restore balance to his nervous system. Four days later he returned for a follow up assessment. His parents were in shock. The following day he had three bowl movements...something that has never happened before. He also peed so much that it soaked through his diaper! For the three days following his adjustment he slept a minimum of 6 hours each night and had zero night terror episodes. His mother also commented,I dont know if it is a coincidence, but ever since his adjustment he had been talking non-stop...even his babysitter brought it up to me! I love chiropractic. It changes lives. It changes families.
