A CALL TO MEDITATE: A FAREWELL TO JANUARY. Habbakuk 2:2-3. ...WRITE the vision, And MAKE IT PLAIN on tablets, That he may RUN who READS it. For the vision is yet for an APPOINTED TIME... Dearly beloved, as this month draws gradually to a close let us ponder these questions: 1. What resolutions did you make for the year 2014? What did you envision yourself achieving this year? 2. As January ends, how far have you come in achieving your resolutions? Todays meditational text teaches us some practical lessons in relation to these questions: 1. WRITE your vision and resolutions down clearly in a book; make them very specific(plain), do away with any ambiguity. If you made resolutions and adopted a vision for 2014 but never wrote them down, you are not likely to achieve them. Clearly writing down your vision is important because it enables you to refer to it from time to time in order to stay on track till the APPOINTED TIME for its fruition (Prov 29:18b). Note also that the vision or resolution you write down should make you RUN. Your vision should CHALLENGE YOU; it should be something that motivates you to do more, not a task that can be accomplished too easily. 2. READ them aloud to yourself often. Writing down resolutions and visions for the year is not enough to achieve them; you must also constantly read them aloud to yourself. Constantly READING your vision enables you to stay focused and encourages you to run with it. As you read your vision/resolutions out aloud, you literally SPEAK THEM INTO BEING. 3. RUN with the vision/resolution. I like the fact that Hab.2:2 did not say that he may CRAWL or WALK ... but it said that he may RUN who reads it... The main aim of writing your resolutions and reading them often is to enable you make SERIOUS efforts to achieve them or see them fulfilled. You must outline the crucial steps you would take each month to make sure the resolution(vision) is achieved at the end of the year. These steps must be followed judiciously. This is what running with the vision means. Consider the way Paul put it in 1 Cor.9:24, 26; Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? RUN in such a way that you may obtain it...Therefore I run thus: not with uncertainty. Thus I fight : not as one who beats the air. There are many who always complain about their inability to achieve their resolutions; to excuse yourself from this group of non-achievers, you must RUN swiftly with your vision or resolutions, do not WALK or CRAWL lackadaisically with them! Dearly beloved, If you failed to WRITE, READ and RUN with your resolutions and vision since the year 2014 began, I beseech you to start immediately (before the month of February sets in); for as Gods child, you CANNOT end this year without making progress in life!! ITS TIME TO RUN!!!
