A MUST READ BY K.U STUDENTS AND OTHER VARSITY STUDENTS Panic in Kenyatta University as. students die under mysterious circumstances According to Kenya University students guild chairperson, a Mr Felix Lone, this is the situation of students after a female student who had gone ‘raving’ in Thika Town (a pub next to where former MP George Thuo was allegedly drugged to death) with friends, having been picked by a man believed to be a sugar-daddy, died moments after returning back to campus. Today is again another very sad morning. At around 6:00 in the Morning our colleague, Moreen Chepkemei Kakuko, and a first year Student was confirmed dead upon arrival at the Health Unit. Moreen went out yesterday evening with three friends. She was picked at Ruiru Campus, where she stays. The three were in company of one other person known to them. They spend the night at Club Leos Thika, and at around 2 Moreen Started complaining of a headache. The Fourth Person, who we now have details on offered to go and give Moreen pain killers that were in his vehicle, the two left and were away for an hour. At around three, the remaining friends called the other man who was driving them to come and pick them and drop them back to school. At this point, the three friends say, they found Moreen Strapped with safety belt on the front passenger seat. They drove from Thika to Ruiru and tried to take Moreen back to her room. She was unconscious and cold. Since the room is upstairs, they say they decided to come with her to the main Campus. They drove into the Campus at around 4 AM and took her to one of their rooms in Longonot. However at around 5, they reported to the health unit to request for an ambulance. The ambulance went and picked Moreen, but upon arrival at the Health Unit she was determined by the doctor to have passed on. This Morning, I have met with the Vice Chancellor over the matter, and we have informed the County Police Commander Mr. Kibui. The police have proceeded to go and arrest the man who was with Moreen for the one hour period to explain what happened. This incident is truly saddening. In the meantime all the three friends are helping with investigations and upon arrival of family Members we will proceed to determine the actual cause of death of Moreen through Autopsy. Deeply Saddened In the same week, the university lost a male student who was brutally murdered in Kahawa estate. The student Leader, Felix Lone, who has to explain these happenings to fellow students, had this to say: Dear Colleagues, I am extremely saddened today. This morning we received sad news that our colleague Newborn Musomi Majani Reg K16S/16300/12 died in a brutal incident of insecurity in Kahawa. Newborn was with friends when he left to go watch a match and later was discovered dead. I have been to the Kahawa Police Station where recording of statements is ongoing and I am now heading to see the scene. The circumstances of our colleagues passing on remain unclear. I have been informed that there was a pile of stones around where he was an indication that he may have been attacked by more than one person. I take this opportunity to pass my condolences to Newborns’ family and friends. If you have any information, you may share with the police or even myself. (0720 021 771) I will update you as everything goes on. And assure you that we will ensure those responsible are held to account.” Irked by the death of the first student, a student counsellor in the same university warned other students: We have lost a lot of comrades in the past 1 academic year. You remember Anne’s story? She was found in City Mortuary after a misharp with the so called boyfriend..You remember Vinnie?? A 5th year Engineering comrade was shot dead at Annex which led to the ban of night events in KU..And now this week.. Newborn who died just around night time in a very peculiar death as a result of Insecurity, the story made headlines on Citizen and K24 tv jana..And today Maureen has died,..reports reaching us is that she might have died as a result of drug poisoning…Maureen’s story is very similar to the late UON comrade..what was. her name again?? Yees Keino…Thika is slowly becoming a death zone with the late George Thuo also dying in a certain club in Thika, its porkiez? just almost next to Club Leo where Maureen was clubbing at.. And you guys, especially the KU ladies..You guys are hypocrites..Whats the rush with men driving big cars, wearing 3 piece designer suits..Don’t you know all men of that calibre are already made men? Men who have a woman behind who struggled with them till where he is now?? And you expect him to marry you? NEVER ..He’ll use you then later dump you or kill you.. Why can’t you just be satisfied with the peanuts you are having? why are you trying to fit in with the crowd? or if at all its very hard to stay alone please cope with that broke nigga of yours..Kuleni fry max kwa amani badala ya Sarova na balaa.. Kwani whats the ish with all this mad partying and raving?? KU might beef up the security in all ways,KU might build hostels for everyone in campus but students will still die in mysterious circumstances.. Wewe pekee yako ndio unaweza jichunga..KU can build you or forever destroy your life it just depends on which side you want to lean on. Let students remain cautious and responsible about their safety.
