A Merseyside man was tortured in his own home by a gang who broke into the house. The victim, named locally as Dennis Walker, only escaped when he jumped out of a bedroom window. The ECHO understands that Mr Walker, 33, was held for several hours at his home in Litherland and suffered a sustained beating. Neighbours described seeing him badly bruised. The house in Kirkstone Road North was targeted again when a suspected petrol bomb was thrown into the back garden, setting fire to a garden shed. Both incidents, described as ‘serious and targeted’ by police, have shocked other residents in the area. One resident, who asked not be named, said: “We are terrified. They had him inside the house for hours. There are pensioners and single mums on this road.” Another added: “I saw Dennis after the attack. He was black and blue, and had staples in his head. They had him inside the house for hours. “Then after that his back garden was petrol-bombed.”
