A Message from our Executive Director, Robin L. Adams Dear DVGRR Family, Yesterday we posted a reward for Buddy, and as you know, volunteers Kim Woerle and Edna Gorby found him. Kim and Edna said that the tip they received from the family who had spotted him during the week was a key link to his final capture. As you may remember, they managed to get within 10 ft. of him and identified him by his colored tags before he got away. Not knowing whether Buddy had moved on (like before), the search area was broadened when he was not found where the family had seen him. But after searching further out, Kim returned to that area and while driving along the cemetery, a golden retriever (in a partially fenced in yard) was seen sitting, scratching his ear. After observing him, Kim didnt want to go to that home in fear of making the dog run if indeed it was Buddy. He then went into hiding behind the front bushes along the home. After Kim posted to the group and contacted Edna, she went to this family, who lived down the street to confirm the “homeowners” indeed had a golden. They told Kim the house was abandoned and that they were the family that had spotted the golden, identifying his collar/tags. They were willing to help surround the yard and keep him from running out until further help arrived. When Edna and other DVGRR volunteers arrived, along with the adopters, Buddy was gently leashed and coaxed out of hiding. Because of this familys lead, and then efforts to help to guard the area, we feel the reward should be honored to them.
