A PARADIGM OF TRUE LOVE: SOLOMON AKACHI IWUNZE (R.I.P) I have known him for some time in Umulogho, but it was not quite long we became intimate. Before we became friends, I always saw him passionately and prayerfully attending to the spiritual needs of people in Umulogho. Whenever I noticed this, I was always overwhelmed with surprise and joy! Yes, for I know many need urgent help spiritually. What was spectacular about him? He personally told me that he could give his life for the freedom of any child of God in bondage! That was one of the attributes two of us shared in common, I thought. Akachis helping hands always make me to ponder on the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ: When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.- Matt. 9:36. Before he got married last year, I personally and kindly asked him why the sudden decision to marry then. He gave his reasons firmly, and I said to him, we pray for Gods will to be done in our lives. I was at home few months ago, when I heard that his wife gave birth, but lost the baby! On hearing this, I visited the hospital alongside another friend, Solomon Eboh. Amidst the consolations, Akachi noticed my eyes fixed towards him steadily, and he said, I know you are wondering that this is happening to me now. I admitted at once. Right there, I was actually pondering over many things both of us discussed in the past, and also wondering why the baby died: could it be Gods will or could it be as a result of some sort of carelessness? Well, we couldnt cry more than the bereaved. Just last week, I was in my work place in Delta state, when one of my younger sisters called to tell me that Akachi is no more! What a bomb-shell! I couldnt conceive it immediately. Once again, so many things flooded my mind. I kept thinking about the times we spent together, the discussions we had, my suggestions to him about certain issues of life, and so on. I asked: God, was it your will for our brother to pass on? Well, we will not cry ourselves to death. In all things, let us give thanks to God! Akachi made his best possible to serve the living God sincerely with his short life here, on earth. We pray that through the intercession of the blessed virgin Mary, God will show him mercy, accept his soul in His Kingdom! May the soul of Akachi Iwunze and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God rest in peace!
