A PERSONAL MESSAGE FROM THE PREMIER On behalf of the Government of Ontario, I am delighted to send this message of warm good wishes to the Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto and to the Pakistani Canadian community across Ontario on the occasion of Pakistan Day. As Premier, I have had the opportunity to meet and converse with many members of the Pakistani Canadian community — and I remain impressed by their contributions to the social, cultural and economic life of Ontario. In sharing their distinctiveness with our province, Pakistani Canadians have enriched our society and broadened our world view. Pakistan Day is an ideal opportunity to pay tribute to the work of the nation’s founders in creating a separate homeland for the Pakistani people and to reflect on the republic’s impressive record of achievement since the passage of the Lahore Resolution in 1940. It is also an occasion to express pride in the customs and culture of Pakistan — from the distinct musical styles of qawwali and ghazal to the richness of its family traditions. I wish our province’s Pakistani Canadian community a joyous and memorable celebration of Pakistan Day. Kathleen Wynne Premier
