A Question From Ajwibatun-Najmiyyah An As’ilat Abee Rawaahah Al-Aqeedah wal-Fiqhiyyah Answered by Shaykh Ahmad Bin Yahyaa An-Najmee (rahimahullah) Question: [It is] well known that verily the Aqeedah of Ahlus-Sunnah [is] that Imaan increases and decreases, so is the affair likewise for Al-Islaam and Al-Ihsaan [that] verily both of them[also] increase and decrease? Answer: Al-Islaam differs from Al-Imaan and that is because the meaning of Al-Imaan is Tasdeeq [affirmation] [1] and Action, and this varies. While Al-Islaam [is more general] upon every Muslim whether he is righteous or evil whether is he obedient to Allah or disobedient so as long as he remains Muslim and it is said concerning him: [he is] Muslim and he has not left Islaam except to disbelief-and Allah’s refuge is sought [from that] and we ask Al-Afuw [The Oft-Pardoning]
