A STATE IN COMA.......... As a young man, Im deeply worried about current state of the nation. We live in a country full of pretence! We live in a soceity where whenever the question of how are you? pops up, one is obliged to say...am fine even when is the reverse. So am asking my fathers, Mothers, uncles, Cbros etc, was it like this, in the days of Nkrumah? Was the story any different from the days of Busia, Hilla Liman, Rawlings??? As a small boy in basic school, we were taught to always criticise CONSTRUCTIVELY. Today, Im tempted to believe that the word CONSTRUCTIVE, when attached to criticism, has a differen meaning from when its standing alone! In the Alban Bagbin case for example, we have lost sight in the issues he first raised! 1. deeply worried about how the country is governed 2. Theres lack of political will & commitment in fighting corruption. Now, the issues have suddenly transmogrified into. 1. Hon. Alban Bagbin, is a traitor and selfish 2. Stan Dogbe is an arrogant guy So, among these two issues, which one would enhance the fortunes of the JM administration and Ghana at large if discussed thoroughly?? Which of these, will put food, on our tables. THE POLITICS OF IT... I have heard the argument that, Alban Bagbin cant/shouldnt criticise something hes part of and that its a collective responsibility or he can resign and do so. Well! I laugh at this logic! Coz its just like saying a moslim should first of all denounce his/her religion before speaking against terrorism(coz the bitter truth, is that many believe it goes hand in hand). I will always support the NDC. Infact, the NDC is my profession, but Ghana is my office! Politics in a country like ours, can be noisy and petty, and that wont change. And it shouldnt because that is the only thing that fuels our collective effort, to resuscitate our nation!
