A-State’s Lee Honored by the CFPA JONESBORO, Ark. (11/10/14) – The College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) announced its weekly national honors Monday, and Arkansas State senior Qushaun Lee has been named an Honorable Mention Linebacker of the Week after recording seven tackles and a career-high two interceptions in the Red Wolves’ 45-10 victory over South Alabama on Nov. 8. Lee was one of six linebackers across the nation honored by the CFPA this week, joining Oregon’s Joe Walker, Georgia Tech’s Quayshawn Nealy, Georgia’s Lorenzo Carter, Wisconsin’s Vince Biegel and Texas A&M’s Otaro Alaka. Lee, who was also named the College Sports Madness Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week, became the sixth A-State player this season issued a CFPA weekly honor. The Prattville, Ala., native anchored a defense that limited the Jaguars to just 201 yards total offense, the fewest by an A-State opponent this season. He helped the Red Wolves collect their sixth victory to become bowl eligible for the fourth consecutive year and seventh time over the last 10 seasons. Lee’s seven tackles were the second most on the team and gave him 63 for the season, which ranks tied for 16th in the Sun Belt Conference. Lee’s two interceptions led directly to 10 points for Arkansas State, and he is tied for first in the league in interceptions with four to his credit. South Alabama was the fifth opponent A-State has held to 14 points or less and the third to under 300 yards total offense this season. The last time the Red Wolves held at least five opponents to no more than 14 points in one season was 1986 when it did so 10 times. Arkansas State continues Sun Belt Conference play Saturday, Nov. 15, when it hosts Appalachian State at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by contacting the A-State Ticket Office at 870-972-2781 or online at tickets.astate.edu.
