A TALE OF TWO POLITICIANS Gemma Doyle MP said: “Islamic State of the Levant (ISIL) are a murderous and barbaric regime — indiscriminately killing people of all religions and none. “Left unchallenged their territory will simply grow and they will become a greater and greater threat to people in Iraq, the wider Middle East region and here at home. “The decision to carry out military action should never be taken lightly and given the previous, recent UK intervention in the region it is incumbent on us in atbfy nto learn the lessons of previous conflicts. “These limited, targeted air strikes are being carried out at the request of the Iraqi Government to support their troops, and the Kurdish Peshmerga on the ground, to tackle ISIL. “I support the action on the basis that it is a last resort, it is legal and proportionate.” In stark contrast, Scottish Socialist Party Councillor Jim Bollan believes the West Dunbartonshire MP’s stance is “sickening”. “Gemma Doyle the Labour MP’s support for the bombing of Iraq, which will lead to the invasion of Syria, is sickening,” he said. “The fact that the US and the West were arming the IS group, who they are now bombing, 12 months ago seems to be lost on Gemma as she slavishly supports the Labour Party line of taking the Country into another war. “A war that will solve nothing but will radicalise thousands more young people in the Middle East. Gemma voted at the referendum to keep the Tories in office in Scotland enabling them to once again penalise the poor while providing tax cuts to the rich. “It is reprehensible that she voted with a Tory Government in finding the billions of pounds to kill and bomb innocent people in Iraq while more and more poverty-stricken families in her constituency of West Dunbartonshire are turning to foodbanks to feed their families.” - See more at: dumbartonreporter.co.uk/news/thisweek/articles/2014/10/10/512393-mp-defends-vote-for-military-action-against-islamic-state/#sthash.kc56bfls.dpuf
