A Visit from St. Nicholas to the houseboat Twas the night before Christmas at Potycaw landing Brother Troy had been out fishing and no fish were landed (caught) His stocking were hung by the non working TV with care And because they were his stockings there was a foul stench in the air Bro Troy and Tonka were nestled all snug in their beds While visions of Redfish danced in there heads With the sun gone down and the tide headed out The waves gently rocked them to sleep and nocked them out When out next to the deck there arose such a splash and spatter Bro Troy sprang from his bed to see what was the matter Troy slipped and fell into the window with a crash Tore his sleep pants on the way out, rolled across the deck, and then Splash! The moon shined on the river as Troy floated about And he could not see very well as he gave Tonka a shout When what to his soggy eyes did appear, Not much he had to get out of the water and find his glasses so he could see clear But once he had he saw such a sight, It was his pontoon boat floating silently in the night With an ole boat hand so lively, loud ,and quick Troy knew in a moment it must Randel. Randel said, Dem dang youngins didnt tie the boat up right. Then he asked Troy, what you doing swimming in the middle of the night? They dock the boat and tied it off tight. Then Troy and Randel couldnt agree and of course they got in a fight. Troy thought it was Randel that made such a clatter But Randel said Troy was crazy and what he thought didnt matter When up on the roof they noticed a fat, whiskered, old Hick. Then down to the deck came jolly ole St. Nick. He was dressed in fishing gear from his head to his feet And his clothes were wet and he wasnt so neat He had a bundle goodies flung on his back And he looked like a jolly fisherman when he opened his pack He had a great big ole round belly. It was obvious he has eaten several doughnuts filled with jelly When Troy and Randel saw, they couldnt help but giggle and shiver What was Santa Clause doing in this part of the river? He said not a word, but went straight to his task He was digging out gifts for those who had asked And left each of them goodies but not in the stockings Cause Not even Santa could bear the smell that those things were rocking Santa pinched his fingers on each side of his nose And told Troy you need to get rid of those Santa nodded his head and then he gave a wink And he was gone as quick as a blink They heard him exclaim as he went out of sight May the Good Lord protect you with all of his might Keep Christ in Christmas and have a good night.
