A bit reflective this Boxing Day.. I remember he carries his belongings in a few bags slung over his shoulders that have big chains, and thick ropes as shoulder straps. Easily 30kgs he walks (seemingly aimlessly) around with each day at the Jalan Sultan area in his soiled rags. Each time he sees me, hell greet me with a Sir and a big smile in his educated English tone. Every so often Ill give him $5 or $10 believing that will keep his smile on for a while longer. I travel a lot and sometimes I miss seeing him. Once, I came back from a long trip and thought I might want to spend a day with him, perhaps do a story on how even the displaced and disadvantaged also like food. I wanted to know what hell recommend me and tell me his story too. But he was nowhere to be seen anymore. I think he may have passed on or is sickly bedridden. I esp remember him this season, which is all about giving and thinking of the others, even strangers. Fact is, everyone deserves a good shot at life, despite their misgivings and misfortunes. You know you are very blessed and lucky when... you have the ability and chance to give and pass it on. Many opportunities will pass you by, dont let it go when and if you can. Give when you can, in all manners. theres enough wealth and joy in this world to go around not just this festive season, but all year round. May your every day be Christmas, Valentines Day and have Glorious 2015 my frens. Makansutra
