A business woman calls me earlier this evening to request my services from me. Photography for an event. it is an award ceremony and she wanted to know if i can do this for for this sunday....i accept and tell her that it can be done, but just as i am about to ask for further info about this, she then goes on to tell me Mr.Descartes, the thing is we cannot pay you. so i laugh a little and ask why..she said well it is a dinner and award, and we are actually paying so that you can come have dinner and photograph. 1. i do free shoots, if i feel like it; OR if someone needs help. 2. your camera has a life - span. bare in mind that every time you take a photo with it - your DSLR - you are killing the life of your camera. 3. If a firm/company needs a service done, i am not going to do it for free. Also, i eat ramen occasionally. I enjoy it and i will not leave my house to come photograph a prestigious award ceremony just to eat a meal which i will then have to shit out the following day and feel proud of myself because i just got a free meal and no pay for my work; in which she will be in my ass, asking to deliver photos or email them, or some shit. i can eat ramen at home :) i swear there is no regard for photographers in this country. No respect either. Photos are a gateway to memories. Respect that.
