A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can - TopicsExpress

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover they can vote themselves largess out of the public treasury. Most seem to attribute this to De Tocqueville, but Alexander Tytler probably said it. This goes for the small scale purchasing of votes from the welfare state and their entrenchment with the Democratic Party, but much more important is the purchase of actual candidates by corporate interests who then proceeded to feed at the trough of corporate welfare costing this nation far more than any amount of food stamps or other subsidies to people who cannot or simply refuse to work. So, heres how it works. Corporate money pours into the campaign coffers of the ladies and gentlemen the corporations want to purchase. These people control the public coffers, and on the right dole out hundreds of billions of dollars to their corporate masters in the form of corporate welfare, while. the left hand of the same military industrial agro governmental complex throws few bucks out to the voters who will not work and always vote for one particular party, thereby building a certain amount of stability into the machine. Thats how we end up with legislators who spend a lifetime in public office, concentrating tremendous amounts of power under their and their cronies names, bought and paid for by corporate interests who only see we the people as potential consumers, working capital ( euphemistically referred to as human resources), cannon fodder and test subjects.
