A few years ago I flew up to Glagow ( Scotland ) to take part in a BBC television programme. The plane was small ( maybe 120 passengers ) and we hit THE most horrendous turbulance I have ever been in. People were screaming ( I have never understood why people scream in these situations...it really doesnt help the plane to fly any smoother :) )........but, priase God, the peace of the Lord really was upon me. I just sat there quietly, thanking God for my life and asking for forgiveness for any inadvertant sin that I had not confessed. I have no fear of dying ....I dont particularly want to die in a plane crash.....but I have absolute faith that if I asked the Lord to remember me when He comes into His Kingdom ( as did the thief on the cross ) ....having confessed and asked for forgiveness......then I WILL be resurrected when He returns. This is the peace of the Lord. It is this peace that surpasses all understanding ......having not one qualm in a dangerous situation. I was able to comfort the passenger next to me ( two seats either side ) by telling him that I was calm because I trusted my life, OR lack of it....to the Lord. You see, we can be used by God in ANY situation. ISIS have instructed its members in Britain to attack 2 British airlines....Easy Jet and British Airways. I am flying to the States with Virgin Atlantic airlines and they may just as easily be targetted. Am I afraid to fly with that possibility in mind ? NO way, Jose. What will be will be. I will be praying, as I enter the plane....as I always do when I fly....that if anything untoward happened that the Lord would use me in any way He saw fit. Nothing else matters but that I trust Him even unto death. Job is my biblical hero......his faith was such that even when he couldnt understand WHY God was allowing him to go through such terrible times, he trusted that he would see the Lord when he was resurrected. Oh , such faith . Halelujah . Praise God for His peace. Worry is doubt......doubt is unbelief.......unbelief is what condemns ( John 3:17) ....and we are NOT people of unbelief. Unless we trust God as Job did....even when not understanding why we are going through trials and tribulations ....then we will be in a state of unbelief. The choice is ours....trust God even unto death.....or not. Be used by Him in perilous times......or not. It really is that simple. God knows my strengths and weaknesses ......I pray He uses one...and deals with the other. We serve a mighty God . We WILL be in situations that require us to reveal....to God and to the world....just how much we do trust Him.....I pray none of us are found wanting. May we all have the courage and the trust of those Christians being beheaded because they refuse to converty to islam. Now THEY are heros.
