A friend of mine once observed that it is impossible, despite mountains of evidence, to sway a climate change deniers opinion - because the notion that human behavior can have such an effect on the planet falls way too far outside the worldview that they have always lived in. In their minds, such a thing cannot possibly be true, so it isnt. I think the same thing is what happens with Barack Obamas presidency. Even if someone is not explicitly racist and has no conscious belief that the president shouldnt be black, the reality of it still falls way outside the worldview that they have always lived in. It is such an impossible thing that has occurred, that there must be a reason it isnt legitimate - or there is something sinister or suspicious about him that means he should be resisted more than a typical president from the opposing party.
