A good teacher… Today while at the doctor’s place waiting, I had a company of a senior lady. When she realized I was a teacher, she asked me a question that stumped me. “Are you a good teacher?” she asked. I have often times asked this question myself. Today leading a large team of experts, I find my knowledge wanting compared to the excellence I have in my team. Each class for me – is not just about teaching, but about prior learning. So, if the definition of a good teacher is one who has and does transfer knowledge – I am still quite some distance from being a good teacher. But along the way I have also discovered my strengths. I am good at empathizing with the students and showing them the direction. I may not be very knowledgeable, but, I realize, I am good at motivating people to pick up knowledge. So, if the definition of a good teacher is someone who facilitates learning – yes, I guess, I am a good teacher. So when the lady asked this question – I had no answer. I just smiled…
