A little commentr I left on the Hatch Show Print page - I love how the HSP comps, going back all those years, were artists as well as plain old printers - Ive been a letterpress printer for 35 years now, a good one I might add, but the quality and absolute ART HSP has sets the work apart from any old business card/letterhead/rats and mice printing I do - or have done, for that matter. Now, being an author/writer/country musician I can print and publish beautiful handmade books - which I love doing, instead of the horrible tedious dirty work I had to do in the 70s/80s etc. I am in a Victorian Precinct, I have platens, flatbeds, 100s of trays of type, tons of stuff (literally!) and I talk to old LP printers from all around the world and the one thing we all agree on is how LP was dirty, tedious, boring and just plain soul destroying when it was work and the other thing we all agree on is how, now, it is ART. Which is what it always was - when it wasnt commercial. I will make the pilgrimage to HSP as soon as Ive been to Bonneville (I also ride fast motorcycles - and pick a mean banjo!) Thankyou Hatch Showprint. BTW all my apprentices/trainees are women. Dunno why but there you go....
