A new project to address the social, environmental and economic impact of energy security and climate change on Pacific African Caribbean Pacific (PACP) countries was launched in Suva today. Supported by the European Union, the Pacific Technical and Vocational Education and Training on Sustainable Energy and Climate Change Adaptation (PACTVET) project will enhance regional and national capacity and technical expertise to respond to climate change adaptation and sustainable energy challenges. The PACTVET project was jointly launched by the EU Ambassador, Mr Andrew Jacobs, SPC Deputy Director General Ms. Fekitamoeloa Utoikamanu, USP Vice Chancellor Prof. Rajesh Chandra and the Deputy Secretary General of the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and Regional Authorising Officer, Ms Christelle Pratt. The EUR 6.1 million (F$11.9m) project is being implemented over 53 months by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC), in partnership with the University of the South Pacific (USP). The project will be implemented in 15 Pacific ACP countries in the region: Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), Fiji, Kiribati, Nauru, Niue, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Republic of Marshall Islands (RMI), Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu
