A new study claims to show a neurological explanation for attention deficit disorder. To oversimplify, it involves an increase in the density of sensory neurons in the brain, resulting in extra stimulation and a tendency to built up norepinephrine (adrenaline). If thats the case, treatment with stimulants like amphetamine, methamphetamine and methylphenidate moves the underlying neurochemical difference (extra norepinephrine) even farther from typical while compensating with extra dopamine.
