A question from community member Luke Spranger: Anyone out - TopicsExpress

A question from community member Luke Spranger: Anyone out there besides me ever consider a theoretical future advancement of our evolution through genetic engineering to say, introduce chlorophyll into our biochemistry and draw energy from the sun via photosynthesis? We could engineer our epidermis to basically be a biological solar panel while still maintaining the ability to eat. This could not only enhance our potential lifespans and maybe help to prevent certain kinds of skin cancer but it could also help solve world hunger issues by requiring us to eat less food. Depending on how effective we could make the process we could even potentially use this advancement for space travel by using the many sources of light across the universe to charge batteries which we could then turn back into light whenever we wished for food. Am I the only person has envisioned this?
