A report from our sponsored Supermileage team: Hello Cory, The Supermileage team produced excellent results throughout 2013-2014. Itrepresented Concordia SAE for the first time at the SAE World Congress where it gained a lot of attention from industry professionals. In addition, it won first place at the student exhibit competition where it was evaluated on vehicle design and team management, among other things, by judges from Ford, Chrysler, GM and NASCAR. On the same day the team was awarded the first place prize at this event, it was learned that the body capstone team had won the capstone award back home. One month following the world congress, the Supermileage team appeared on Global News Montreal. In June of 2014, at the SAE Supermileage competition, Concordia repeated its success by bringing home the Endurance Award trophy. This award was given to the team having produced the most durable and reliable vehicle. In fact, an extra column on the results table had to be created just for Concordia as a result of its many track runs. The fuel economy achieved was 448 mpg which brought the team up to tenth place, its most successful ranking in many years. Concordias vehicle was also the second lightest at the competition, and planned improvements for 2015 will likely bring it to the top. The teams success got the attention of one of our sponsors who invited us to the Center for Automotive Research (CAR) MBS conference in Michigan. During the conference, Autoline TV produced a video featuring our vehicle, and overall, Supermileage generated a great deal of interest. For 2014-2015, we intend on refining our current vehicle, making our first appearance at the Shell Eco-Marathon and commencing the design of our first electric vehicle.
