A serendipitous SWEET THOUGHT this morning re faithful GRANDPARENTS. Susan & I have been babysitting our grandchildren Kaiya & Kaden (7&3) this week, and today their folks (Chris & Lisa) return from an anniversary away. 1) As I mused on our joy/weariness from this, the Lord had me consider all those grandparents who, for one reason or another, have taken over rearing grandchildren! Both their sacrifice and blessing (to their wee-ones) touched me! Happy provision provided, day after day -- out of a willing LOVE! It took my breath away as I considered it. Many such fabricated families exist today, from divorces, desertions and death. I thanked God for their will and strength. Im more aware than ever of weariness, so the thought of this struck me. 2) But then another thought flooded into my mind -- and I lost it: I MYSELF had benefitted from four such faithful grandparents ministry, in the gift to my now departed mother. Her mother had died from cancer when she was only two, and her father was almost always out-of-state for work -- and both sets of her grandparents stepped forward (at my age!!!) to adopt their little granddaughter. Thoughts of her love and affection flooded in as I identified its source as these believing grandparents who poured themselves into my mom. I quietly gave thanks to my Lord for his provision; and then similarly prayed -- giving thanks for people like YOU (if this scenario fits your calling) for your labor of love. As with ME, the effect of your love can be felt/identified almost 100 years later! These are the things that REALLY COUNT in life!
