A serious crash has occurred on the Stuart Highway at Pinelands in Darwin. A single vehicle rollover has occurred near the cross street of Foundation Road in the northbound Stuart Highway lanes. The crash scene is over 200m in length. Palmerston Police are on scene. The driver is relatively uninjured and has been arrested for suspected drink driving. His 4 passengers appear to have all been ejected from the vehicle in the rollover. They have suffered serious injuries, with a number unconscious and suspected of suffering spinal injuries. ALL inbound lanes of the Stuart Highway are now closed entirely between Pinelands and McMillans Road whilst Major Crash Detectives attend the scene. Diversions are being set-up now. If heading into town, please utilise Tiger Brennan Drive or other roads. Please avoid the area to assist Police, St John Ambulance and Fire & Rescue Service to assist the injured passengers and deal with the scene. Your cooperation is appreciated.
