A slight pop in the air jolted Tonks awake. Although uneasy, she felt a little relieved at the thought of a possible disturbance after months on guard duty. Lumos. she said, directing her wand in front of her. She walked silently past the rows of orbs, careful not to touch any of them. As she passed row 92, she decided shed been hearing things. How many hours had she been awake now? She started back to the door, thinking she might call Kingsley early. Nox. She stopped and looked at her wand. The light from its tip had been extinguished. Then where was the light coming from? Before she could spin completely around, she heard, Expelliarmus! Her wand landed with a clatter somewhere beyond the circle of light illuminated around her. Looking at her across the circle was the deranged face from the Wanted posters, still holding a slight hint of her former beauty that Tonks heard about growing up. Bella. Hello Nympho. Bellatrix said with a sneer. Tonks purple eyes darted between her aunts black and the lit wand held loosely at her side. Wotcher. I see you left Azkaban a bit early. Got out on good behavior. Bellatrix said, cackling at her own joke. And you decided to see me? Tonks said, Im touched. Now, if youd kindly sod off- She didnt see the wand move, but she felt flames lick her cheek. Tut tut. Bellatrix waved her finger. Such a dirty mouth. Tonks stood to her full height, looking down at her aunt. Right. This has been a blast, but youve wasted your time. But you dont even know why Im here. Bellatrix said, poking her lip out. Youre here because you want me to get the prophecy. Tonks said. But you should know- That you cant touch it without going mad? Bellatrix finished, But whats life without a little madness? She stared her niece down as though waiting for an answer before continuing. Besides, all of that prophecy nonsense. What a bore. Leave that to the boys. Then why are you here? Im here to talk about love. Tonks shook her head, sure shed misheard. Love? Specifically, Bellatrix answered, walking in a circle around Tonks. your love for a certain young man with a peculiar scar. She smiled as the young witchs eyes widened in the pale light. I- I dont- Dont deny it! Bellatrix screamed, before breathing deeply to regain control of herself. Do you want to know how I know? She took the silence as an assertion to continue. Did my dear sister ever speak about me? With a shaky voice, Tonks said, She said you were nuts. She said you were the pride of your mum, and used to be rather beautiful. Used to be? Bellatrix looked genuinely confused, but decided to press on. Did Mummy dearest tell you I was a bit of a prodigy at Divination? Tonks snickered, Youre a fortune teller? NO! Bellatrix yelled, still circling her niece, before calming down once more. I dont tell fortunes. But I can tell the future. And I can tell secrets. And you, niecy, have one hell of a secret. You are in love with Harry Potter. Youre sick in the head. Look whos talking. What is he, 12? 15. Tonks chided herself for taking the bait. But hes mature for his age, wouldnt you say? Tonks took a deep breath through her nose. So youve come to toy with me about a crush? Okay. Now what? Kill me for the grand finale? Put me under the Imperius curse and make me get the prophecy? No no no. He knows it has to be him or the boy. Bellatrix put heavy emphasis on the last word. As for killing you... well, as I said, she stepped up behind Tonks, wrapped her wand arm around her waste and put her lips on her ear to whisper, I can tell the future. But I think this is a secret Ill keep close to my chest. She stepped back, her cackle slowly building to a maniacal laugh. The room went dark. Tonks found her wand, but knew it was too late. She was alone again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tonks burst into the room, jumping the steps two at a time. She saw Mad Eye calmly facing down a Death Eater who was attacking from behind. Kingsley and Remus were checking on Neville. Harry and Sirius were on the dais, fighting Lucius together. She looked around. She had to be here. Bellatrix wouldnt miss a fight like this. Sure enough, she saw her, sneaking through the shadows. Stupefy! Bellatrix ducked as the spell cracked the wall behind her. She turned, with a knowing smile, and fired a spell back. It took all of Tonks training just to stay on the defensive. Azkaban hadnt depleted her aunts skills at all. Tonks knew it was over when her foot caught on a broken stone. She stumbled over, catching herself as Bellatrix disarmed her. Breathing heavily, she knew the final blow was coming. But when she looked up, Bellatrix was only smiling. In slow motion, Tonks saw the aim of the wand move slowly from her chest, circling through the air and stop. She closed her eyes. Finally she understood her aunts words. Futures and secrets. Tonks pushed herself from the ground and ran. She looked to her right and saw Harry, unsuspecting, enjoying his moment with his godfather. She then looked left as the world was tinted in green. The exact color of his eyes. ~Neo
