A vacant Zavalla home burned to the ground Monday afternoon off U.S. Highway 69 south. Andy Grimes said he and his wife had just bought the older home at 1633 Polly Branch Road with the intention of remodeling it. The couple lives just down the road from the home, which is off FM 1270.
